NET to complete maintenance on Station Street lifts

Nottingham Express Transit have announced that major maintenance work will be taking place on the Station Street lifts between Monday 22nd June and Sunday 14th August. The lifts have been in service since the network opened in 2004 and their reliability has been patchy at best in recent years, with this work long anticipated by users who have relied on them.

Gateshead 10 moves under its own power

The lengthy overhaul of Gateshead 10 at Beamish seems to be approaching its final stages with news that it is has run under its own power for the first time in 10 years. It only ran a short-distance within the confines of the depot and yard but is a milestone in the tram returning to service.

Progress on next Coventry Very Light Rail demonstrator line

Work is underway on the construction of the first section of the latest Coventry Very Light Rail (CVLR) demonstrator line in the city centre. Severn Trent Water have been on site on Mile Lane – which is a 400 metre long section of the line, the first of three sections – to renew their infrastructure ahead of the CVLR team moving in later this summer.

In Pictures: Aberdeen Suburban Tramways 11 back in service!

A second heritage tram which was built to run on the streets of Scotland is operational following the return to service of Aberdeen Suburban Tramways Company 11 at the Alford Valley Community Railway. Whilst its no longer running as a tram it marks a significant return for the vehicle and comes at the end of several years of hard work by the volunteers at the railway.

In Pictures: Manchester’s original Queens Road Depot celebrates 125 years

The weekend of 6th and 7th June 2026 saw a special event held at Queens Road Depot in Manchester to help celebrate its 125th anniversary.
