In Pictures: Crich Model Tramway and Railway Exhibition

The annual Model Tramway and Railway Exhibition at the National Tramway Museum took place over the weekend of Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August. There were 14 layouts on display across the Great Exhibition Hall, Workshop Viewing Gallery and Learning Centre whilst there were also a number of trade stalls for the budding modeller to get everything they could need for their own layout. And, of course, there were full sized trams running on the museum tramway too! Photos from Steven Hughes.

Glasgow 22 comes down the museum street and passes The Red Lion shortly before it terminates at Stephenson Place.

Newcastle 102 has just departed from Town End as it sets off with another journey up to Glory Mine.

Blackpool 236 was also in service as seen in this image of it pulling forward to Town End terminus.

Onto the model exhibition and this is Witham Valley Tram Museum which includes a model of Bluebird.

It wasn’t just traditional trams in model form with this layout including a modern South Yorkshire Supertram tram-train.

A scene from Manchester where single deck combination car 659 is seen. The level of period details included in this layout is clear to see as well.

A view of some off track models in between their use.

A very busy scene in Manchester including four double deckers in use. (All Photographs by Steven Hughes, 16th August 2026)
