In Pictures: Monzo makes it three UK tramways!

The online bank, Monzo, are slowly completing a takeover of UK tramways with Manchester Metrolink becoming the third system to have a tram carrying the now familiar red vinyls for the company. The chosen tram is 3104.

The advert being carried on 3104 is nearly identical to that on West Midlands Metro 47 featuring the small bank cards onto the windows (the one on South Yorkshire Supertram 111 does not have this addition). As is normal on Metrolink the tram ends remain free of advertising vinyls with the yellow fleet livery remaining on view.

This becomes the fifth advert to have been carried on 3104: Manchester Airport (August-October 2025), Singin’ In the Rain (only a partial ad: October-December 2025), MOBO Awards (March 2026) and Courvoisier cognac (May-August 2026) being the previous adverts.

The new advert obviously also confirms that 3104 has lost its Courvoisier cognac advert.

The same company having adverts on multiple UK tramways is not a complete unknown (Manchester Metrolink and West Midlands Metro in particular often have the same contracts) but three separate tramways featuring the same one is rarer. Pretty Little Thing being the most obvious with Blackpool, Manchester and Sheffield all having trams with the ads (for varying lengths of time).
