Over the years its not been uncommon to see or hear of cars driving onto tram tracks, and now West Midlands Metro have renewed their warnings to motorists who may be putting themselves and others at risk by doing so.

A new initiative from the West Midlands Metro will see Eco-islands installed at various tramstops across the network. This is part of the tram operator’s aim to “cultivate a cleaner, safer and more sustainable future for the region.”

Thursday 16th April 2026 was a momentous day for West Midlands Metro 27 when it escaped from Wednesbury Depot for the first time in quite some time with it being used on driver training.
