In Pictures: Midland Metro 10 at Long Marston

Long Marston in Warwickshire is home to the Rail Innovation Centre and over recent years has also been used as a storage location for a variety of different rolling stock. That has included a number of withdrawn and stored modern trams and during a visit to the site for the recent Rail Live event one of those was still seen to be in attendance. The tram we are talking about is former Midland Metro T69 10.

10 has now been at Long Marston for just over 10 years having made the move from Wednesbury Depot on 24th March 2016. It last ran in passenger service during July 2015 – this was the penultimate of the class to be withdrawn with just 16 surviving longer.

At the time of its withdrawal it was in the second fleet livery with the Network West Midlands silver and magenta colours having been added to the tram. It is also actually half of 09 and half of 10 as both tram suffered from accident damage in December 2016 and after repairs they returned as two reformed trams.

10 received a repaint in time for the Rail Live event in 2022 with it being used by the British Transport Police for a demonstration. It retains that mainly white livery today and from observations received at the 2026 Rail Live event it looks in reasonably good external condition. Any plans for the trams future are unknown, but it does at least still survive.
