More service changes on the West Midlands Metro

West Midlands Metro services will see more alterations in August and September. The European Athletic Championships in Birmingham will impact services next Sunday whilst more overhead line upgrades will be taking place on Sunday 13th September.

Sunday 16th August

European Athletic Championships Marathons will be taking place in Birmingham City Centre

  • From the start of service until 1630 trams will run between Wolverhampton Station/St George’s and Grand Central via Millennium Point.
  • No trams will run between Grand Central to Edgbaston Village until 1630

Sunday 13th September

Upgrades to the overhead wires will be continuing

  • From the start of service until 1300 trams will run between Wolverhampton Station/St George’s and Wednesbury Great Western only
  • Trams will not run between Wednesbury Great Western Street and Millennium Point/Edgbaston Village until 1300

Ticket acceptance will be in place on:

  • National Express bus service 79 (Wolverhampton to West Bromwich), 74 (West Bromwich to Birmingham City Centre) and all services between Colmore Row and Edgbaston Village
  • West Midlands Railway train services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham, including Five Ways (direct debit or pass holders only)
