In Pictures: West Midlands Metro 50 receives advert for TK Maxx

West Midlands Metro 50 finally made its full debut in a new advert for TK Maxx on Friday 19th June 2026, coming a week after the vinyls were actually applied to the tram.

The new advert is mainly red and as with the majority of designs on the West Midlands Metro it sees the ends of the tram retain the blue fleet livery. But the rest of the tram is covered in the advert, with one side featuring images of people with a TK Maxx bag whilst the other just has large areas of plain red (including on the windows).

Immediately before this advert was applied 50 was in fleet livery but has already carried an advert in 2026. That was for L’Oreal which was seen on the tram between February and April. These are the only two adverts to have been carried by the tram so far.

Whilst the vinyls were applied a week ago, unfortunately the tram wasn’t able to run in service. It was out briefly on Wednesday 17th June but suffered a fault and returned to depot. But after attention it was cleared for use again and saw full use on Friday 19th June.

First full day out for 50 and its at West Bromwich Central in this image as it calls with a service to Wolverhampton Station. This is the more “exciting” side of the advert, (Photograph by Mason Weaver, 19th June 2026)

Whereas this side almost looks as if someone forgot to get some pictures for the vinyls! Large sections of plain red are seen in this view of the tram.

Another look at 50 with this being the side with more images and less plain red. (Photographs x2 by Shiv Patel, 19th June 2026)
