In Pictures: West Midlands Metro starts services to Millennium Point

Sunday 5th April 2026 saw the latest section of the West Midlands Metro network open with services to Millennium Point on the Birmingham Eastside extension getting underway. But things didn’t quite get off to the perfect start with an abandoned car at St Chad’s meaning there was no service between St Paul’s and Millennium Point for a few hours in the morning.

Seven trams see service at Seaton in March

With the first full month of operation for 2026 now at an end – albeit it was weekends only until the very end of the month – the Seaton Tramway’s latest online newsletter has revealed the mileage trams covered. And its shown that there were seven trams in total which were used, including both open toppers and enclosed saloons.

Increased penalty fare for travelling without a ticket on NET from May

Anyone caught travelling without a ticket, or having paid for a contactless fare, on Nottingham Express Transit has been warned that from 1st May 2026 it will cost them more with an increase in the penalty fare confirmed.

In Pictures: Amsterdam 474 returns to service at East Anglia Transport Museum kicks off their 2026 season

Whilst a lot of enthusiasts attention towards the trams at the East Anglia Transport Museum has often been Blackpool related over the past few years (with Brush Railcoach 634 arriving and entering service and Standard 143 arriving for the completion of its restoration) it shouldn’t be forgotten that they also have trams from other places, and one of those returned to service on Good Friday having missed the last couple of seasons.

TWO LINES = STOP campaign contributing to tramway safety

The LRSSB backed safety campaign “TWO LINES = STOP” has been contributing to increased safety around UK tramways, according to the results of a recent survey. Of those questioned up to 70% said they had changed their behaviour when close to tramways having spotted the eye-catching graphics seen across the UK.

Full events programme announced for Manx Heritage Transport Festival 2026

Isle of Man Transport have revealed the full planned events programme for the Manx Heritage Transport Festival 2026, which will be taking place between Tuesday 28th July and Sunday 2nd August. There are two big themes of the event this year with the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway celebrating 150 years and it being the 50th anniversary of the nationalisation of buses. But that doesn’t mean other lines aren’t getting in the act either of course!

In Pictures: Metrolink 3104 back to fleet livery

Another award ceremony in Manchester is over and the vinyls on a tram which was advertising it taking place have quickly been removed! Metrolink 3104 is now running back in fleet livery after its vinyls for the MOBO Awards were removed on Sunday 29th March 2026.
