Picture in Time: Manchester 765

We return to Heaton Park in 1980 for another look at Manchester 765.

765 has now left Middleton Road Gates and with a smattering of passengers on board it now heads further into the Park with a trip along the preserved tramway. As 765 was the only serviceable tram at the Park at this time it used the same track in both directions.

The spur into the Park was disconnected in January 1934 and the tracks were just covered in tarmac. Instead a turning circle for the replacement buses was created. The tracks were rediscovered and the old layer of tarmac removed to allow the tramway to reopen.
