Tram windscreen smashed and driver injured after brick dropped from bridge

Nottinghamshire Police have launched appeal to find those responsible after a brick was dropped from a bridge in Basford which hit a tram’s windscreen leading to minor injuries for the driver. The incident happened at around 1900 on Tuesday 4th June.

Two more new units arrive on the Tyne and Wear Metro

In Pictures: A visit to Crich in June

We’re off to the Crich Tramway Village again for this pictorial article with Steven Hughes visiting the museum on Sunday 16th June 2024. This was, of course, the first day of public services on the Blackpool North Station extension and one of the trams in service at Crich on this day had a decidedly North Station link.

Delays to introduction of new DLR trains

It’s a crushing inevitability that the entry into service of new trains will be delayed and the latest system to be impacted by this is the Docklands Light Railway. The latest TfL Commissioner’s Report (June 2024) has a brief section on the DLR rolling stock replacement programme and although it doesn’t say that their introduction has been delayed it does admit to some challenges.

More trackwork in Nottingham this July

Details of major Metrolink closure confirmed

There will be no trams between Piccadilly and Piccadilly Gardens for 17 days in late June and early to allow for major track replacement works on the Manchester Metrolink network. Revised services will operate between 22nd June and 9th July which will see the Ashton route running independently of the rest of the network with replacement buses also being operated.

In Pictures: Normal services start on Blackpool’s North Station extension

Normal services are now underway on the newest section of open tramway in the UK with the first public service arriving at North Station on the morning of Sunday 16th June as planned. This follows several days of preview with special tours running including, on Saturday 15th June, the first heritage tram with passengers to make its way along Talbot Road.

In Pictures: A Bank Holiday in the east
