Tuesday 8th October saw a collision between a car and a tram on the Ashton-under-Lyne line of Manchester Metrolink leading to one man being taken to hospital and the suspension of services whilst the emergency services attended.
The collision took place between Audenshaw and Droylsden at a unsignalled junction at Williamson Lane with a car hitting a tram as it turned right out of the road. The tram involved was 3013.
The male driver of the car had to be cut from his vehicle and was taken to hospital for treatment. The severity of his injuries were not reported but local media stated they were not believed to be life threatening.
The incident happened at around 0830 with trams not able to run between Velopark and Ashton. A full service started to resume from 1000.
It’s quite baffling as to why there are so many collisions with the trams, when they’ve been in service for years. Poor 3013, in the wars again, because of driver inattention.
