In Pictures: Temporary West Midlands Metro arrangements at Library

West Midlands Metro services were again restricted in their operation for a period at the end of September and into early October because of security arrangements in place for the Conservative Party Conference which took place at the International Conference Centre. Originally due to be in place from 2000 on Wednesday 25th September until the end of service on Wednesday 2nd October, but later extended until “end of service on the afternoon of Thursday 3rd October”, trams were not able to run between Library and Edgbaston Village. This saw Library become a terminus again and allowed for shots of the trams regularly using the crossover there once more. Andy Walters captured these images for us.

With a barrier in place to prevent trams from heading onto Broad Street, 47 stands at Library ready for its return working to Wolverhampton Railway Station.

The reason for trams being unable to run any further are seen here with the security cordon around the venue blocking the tracks.

58 in its recently applied advert for Birmingham City University uses the crossover at Library as it leaves the stop.

  1. Ginger Doctor says:

This will be a farce if and when the line goes to Bearwood.
