Having been the market leader in a ever-changing selection of adverts, 2026 has been a very quiet year for Edinburgh Trams with no all new adverts seen as yet (and we’re halfway through the third month of the year!). Indeed the only changes have been a few revisions to existing adverts – 251 which advertises St James Quarter, 254 advertising Uniqlo and 275 which carries vinyls for Walkers Shortbread. In this article we take a closer look at the current version of 275’s advert.

Chair appointed to new committee driving tramway safety standards

In Pictures: Another quick visit to Crich as the season continues

We’re into the second week of the 2026 season at the National Tramway Museum in Crich already. Seven passenger trams have seen use so far this year but at the present time are only running as far as Wakebridge whilst there is ongoing work at Glory Mine following Newcastle 102’s issue on the first day of the season. More investment into Metro overhead line this April

There will be no Tyne and Wear Metro services between Pelaw and South Shields from Monday 13th to Friday 17th April to allow for major work to take place on the overhead line. This work is part of the Asset Renewal Programme and has been scheduled during the Easter holidays to minimise disruption and with less traffic on the roads the road replacement transport should suffer fewer delays.

RNIB Scotland guide Edinburgh Trams team through onboard training

In Pictures: Xero adverts in the West Midlands and Manchester

The recent pattern of the same adverts appearing on trams on both the West Midlands Metro and Manchester Metrolink has continued with Xero taking out contracts on both systems within a couple of days of each other. The trams to carry the adverts are West Midlands Metro 47 and Manchester Metrolink 3102.

Supertram upgrade tramstop advertising with new, bright eco-friendly posters

Badly parked cars and vans to blame for blocking Croydon tram tracks

South Yorkshire Mayor claims Supertram losing £1,700 a week due to fare dodging

Oliver Coppard, the Mayor of South Yorkshire, recently claimed that South Yorkshire Supertram are losing £1,700 a week because of fare dodging, although the SYMCA have confirmed that this isn’t all deliberate with some down to the fact that conductors are unable to sell tickets to everyone on board busy trams.

Another piece of history goes in Blackpool as old tracks removed

Tracks which have remained disused for a number of years have been removed in Blackpool as part of the development of the Foxhall and Blundell Street areas of the town. Included in the rails which have been removed is the historic alignment on Princess Street (part of the original tramway in Blackpool back in 1885) as well as those which provided access to the north end of the Fitting Shop.

Offender sentenced after tram conductor assault in Sheffield
