NET raises over £17,000 for charities in 2025

Nottingham Express Transit managed to raise over £17,000 for local charities in 2025 as they continue to show their commitment to supporting the Nottinghamshire community and making a difference to those in need.

The 2025 charity of the year was Our Dementia Choir, and they benefited from a number of fundraising initiatives. A highlight was the Three Peaks challenge, which saw NET staff from various departments climb the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales. This saw over £2,000 raised.

The “Walk the Network” initiative – first seen in 2024 – also returned with £1,000 raised through a Sponsored Walk totalling 12 miles along the route of the tramway. Other fundraising activities saw staff help to raise a further £1,500 for the charity.

Our Dementia Choir – founded in 2018 by actress Vicky McClure – aims to highlight the transformative power music can have on the lives of those living with dementia.

Other charities also benefited thanks to NET fundraising efforts. This included a £1,000 donation to the Strelley Family Fun Day, £1,000 to Switch Up, and over £500 for Breast Cancer Now. £1,000 worth of food was donated to the Aspley Food Bank and over £2,500 was raised through personal efforts of staff with local causes like Framework, Cancer Research, and Our Military Veterans benefitting.

Rebecca Horne, Business Engagement Manager at NET, said: “Our fundraising efforts in 2025 reached unprecedented heights, beating that of previous years. We’re incredibly proud of the generosity shown by each and every staff member. With their dedication to fundraising and supporting those in need, we’ve helped to make a real difference to so many lives within the Nottinghamshire community. Just as the trams are so important to the community of Nottingham, so are its local charities that operate to support those that need it most. That’s why we always strive to prioritise fundraising efforts each year, so we can do our bit to make an impact and support the important causes that matter most. As we embark on a new year of fundraising, we look forward to helping even more worthy causes from across the county.”
