To mark International Women’s Day on Sunday 9th March 2026, West Midlands Metro held an inspiring event which celebrated this year’s theme #GiveToGain, and recognised the invaluable contributions of women across the organisation.
The event brought together colleagues from across the business for a day of connection and personal development. It focussed on empowering women through wellbeing, confidence building, shared learning, and skills development.
Sophie Allison, Managing Director at West Midlands Metro, said: “I’d like to thank Mo Harford-Bury, a Neurodiversity speaker from Momentum, Kate Gerald from KAG Training Consultancy, and Sophia Baker from Midlands Air Ambulance, our charity of the year, for their motivational words during a day that celebrates the huge contributions made by the female members of our team.
“This year, we also set up a ‘Give to Gain Corner’ in our Wednesbury depot, where female colleagues can write what they hope to gain or achieve over the coming year. Our commitment to supporting women within our organisation and promoting career opportunities for women within the light rail sector continues throughout the year.”
