In this edition of “15 Years Apart” we again feature a tram in two different locations – as we include images of Cardiff 131 at Beamish and Crich.
Cardiff 131 is possibly the first works car we have featured in this series with it making a rare loan visit to Beamish in 2010 for their Power from the Past event in April 2010 seeing its inclusion this time around. This event was around contractors and works and so the fairly recently restored 131 was an ideal exhibit to make the trip to the northeast. For much of the time during the event it was stabled in the main town street and that is where we catch-up with it on 15th April 2010.
Then on 14th September 2025, Cardiff 131 is firmly back home at what was then called the Crich Tramway Village (it had also enjoyed a four month period of operation in Blackpool ahead of the opening of the upgraded tramway in 2011/2). Still looking exactly as it did 15 years previously we see the tram returning towards the depot on a soggy Tram Weekend day. (Both Photographs by Gareth Prior)
