We have one final photo from Amsterdam in this latest batch of “Around the World in Trams” images.
This photo was taken around 1981 and shows historic Amsterdam Snowbroom SV1 running along the tracks in the centre of Amsterdam. In its dull works grey livery the tramcar is making an unusual appearance when there was no snow for it to sweep! It could be that it was out for a special occasion, the internet suggests September 1981 saw it used to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the GVB-workers musical orchestra, so that could be linked.
SV1 was built in 1905 as a purpose built snowbroom. It remained operational until 1991 at which point it was withdrawn and preserved.

It might be another event in 1981 as this vehicle as well as the one on the right edge of the picture took part in TRAM 81 on the 17th of May. The Dutch Society of railway and tramway enthusiasts (N.V.B.S.) organised that event because of it’s 50 th anniversary. It is more likely the photographer was aware of this event than the one stated, but without a more specific date of the photograph or confirmation by the photographer or a list of vehicles taking part in the stated event, we won’t reach 100% certainty.
