London Passenger Transport Board 1622 and Sheffield 510 have become the eleventh and twelfth tram to carry passengers at the National Tramway Museum in 2026 following their entries into service at the start of May 2026. its entry into service on Saturday 2nd May 2026.
1622 was the first to be used with it out initially on Saturday 2nd May 2026 having gone through commissioning and then 510 followed it on Thursday 7th May 2026
Both trams had run in 2025 (as is the same case for all the trams to have run so far this year).
1622 is a unique tram in preservation being the only survivior of the biggest class of tram ever seen in the UK, the E/1s whereas 510 is one of two Roberts Cars to survive. The other Roberts Car is 513 which has also run already in 2026 at the East Anglia Transport Museum.
The eleven trams which have now run are Glasgow 22, Blackpool & Fleetwood 40, Blackpool 40, Sheffield 74, Newcastle 102 (although just briefly on the first day of the season), London County Council 106, Blackpool 167, Blackpool 236, Leeds 345, Leeds 399, Sheffield 510 and London Transport 1622.
Sorry, just to clarify that 1622 is not the only E/1 to survive, as the London Transport Museum has 1025 at its Acton depot… though to be fair, 1025 is not in operational condition and is only available for viewing a few days per year.
