Still Standing! Llandudno & Colwyn Bay Electric Railway shelter

Its back to the North Wales coast for this latest edition of “Still Standing!” as we take another look at one of the surviving remnants of the Llandudno & Colwyn Bay Electric Railway. This time around we take a look at a shelter which is thought to date back to the tramway years.

This shelter is located on Gloddaeth Avenue in Llandudno and is close to the West Shore terminus of the line. A rather grand affair in its heyday (no simple shelter back in the 1950s!) it has more than one face with seating located in it. As it was close to a terminus it seems a little strange that it would be so large but a tramstop was located in this vicinity and this is thought to still be there from those days. Of note it no longer seems to be the location of a bus stop either.

Looking a little bit sorry for itself this is the shelter on Gloddaeth Avenue in Llandudno. (Photograph by Keith Chadbourne)
