NET 213 gets new Pride vinyls

For the first time since the system opened in 2004, Nottingham Express Transit is fully embracing Pride with special vinyls applied to Incentro 213. With Notts Pride taking place on Saturday 27th July, Nottingham Express Transit have teamed up with Alstom and East Midlands Railway to encourage people to “Ride with Pride”.

The vinyls on 213 are not a full wrap but as with many of the trams in the Nottingham fleet (at least the original Incentro ones anyway) it includes a full height vinyl on the centre section and then other vinyls above the windows elsewhere. Its being described as a “Trambow”.

All three organisations (Alstom, East Midlands Railway and Nottingham Express Transit) are keen to take the opportunity of Pride to say they offer journeys and careers where everyone is welcome, can be their true selves and excel. They also want to promote Nottingham’s transport network as a means to arrive at Pride with style with it also being more eco-friendly and sociable than driving solo.

Peter Broadley, Services Managing Director UK and Ireland at Alstom, said: “Alstom is proud to collaborate with EMR and NET to bring our vibrant ‘trambow’ to Nottingham’s streets in celebration of Pride. Tram 213’s new look is a statement of our collective commitment to diversity, inclusion and the right of every individual to be their authentic self – either as a fare-paying passenger or a colleague.

“By riding with Pride together, we not only celebrate the LGBTQ+ community but also promote a more inclusive public transport system across the East Midlands and beyond. We look forward to marching together at Notts Pride, symbolising unity and our shared journey towards nurturing a more fair and equal society.”

Service Delivery and Safety Director, as well as being EDI Lead, at NET, Sarah Turner, said: “As a core transport provider for the city, our new ‘Ride with Pride’ tram is a vibrant symbol of our commitment to the spirit of diversity and inclusion in Nottingham. Across our network, we’re always working to make our trams a safe space for all our customers, including the LGBTQ+ community. During July, we’re excited to be celebrating Nottinghamshire’s LGBTQ+ community through our eye-catching new design, in collaboration with our partners Alstom and EMR, as we continue our dedication to equality and acceptance both across our network and the wider city.”

Notts Pride is organised by a volunteer run charity and is the East Midlands’s biggest free pride event. In 2024 Alstom, East Midlands Railway and Nottingham Express Transit will be marching in the Pride parade together.
