It may be November and we may be turning our thoughts to Christmas (and the inevitable Santa Specials at various tramways across the country) but before then the Heritage Tram Tour team at Blackpool haven’t finished for the year yet with the final intensive Gold weekend of 2019 taking place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th November. As with all Winter Gold weekends the timetable sees trams running all the way from Starr Gate to Fleetwood and to add a bit of interest for anyone in Blackpool the night before, the Western Train will be running a couple of trips to Fleetwood on Friday 22nd November too.
Friday 22nd November
The Western Train will be out on the tracks for nearly four hours departing on its first trip north from North Pier/Tower at 1710 from where it will run to Fleetwood (a 1750, d 1800), Pleasure Beach (a 1845, d 1855), Fleetwood again (a 1950, d 2000), Pleasure Beach (a 2045, d 2047) before terminating at North Pier Tower at 2100.
Standard heritage fares will apply with Heritage Day Travelcards valid at £11 for adults and round trip tickets available at £5.50 for adults (£3 child).
Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th November
A standard six tram, approximately 15 minute frequency Gold service will run on both days of the weekend. Instead of the summer Gold timetable which runs exclusively from Pleasure Beach the less frequent winter Flexity service means it is possible for most heritage services to run to and from Starr Gate. All six trams will run between Starr Gate and Fleetwood at least once with those trams allocated as “B” and “D” getting to do two trips.
The two days will see six different trams running on each day meaning there should be – subject to the usual availability and operational constraints – 12 different trams in service representing five different classes of tram.
Planned trams are:
A – Balloon 715
B – Balloon 717
C – Brush 631
D – Standard 147
E – Balloon 713
F – Centenary 648
A – Centenary 642
B – Balloon 723
C – Railcoach 680
D – Balloon 718
E – Brush 621
F – Balloon 701
An extra tram will also be out on the mainline on each day, as the Tram Shop will be back at North Pier/Tower.
