Rare Metro tickets found on ebay

Enthusiast Ian Chapman has recently discovered some rare Tyne and Wear Metro tickets on ebay which he has added to his extensive ticket collection. His large collection already includes over 40,000 used Metro tickets but some of the latest additions have an extra rarity value as they were printed with the date the day before the Metro actually opened!

Tram moves between Wednesbury and Dudley continue

Metrolink enjoys a personal best on Marathon Day

Manchester Metrolink has a new personal best with a record-breaking number of passengers carried on the trams on Sunday 19th April 2026. This was Manchester Marathon day and more than 200,000 passenger journeys were recorded on the day.

UKTram’s first OLE training course takes place

The end of March and start of April 2026 saw UKTram support the delivery of the first Light Rail and Tramway Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) training course in Crewe. The three day course gave hands-on training combined with theoretical learning, providing attendees with a structured understanding of UK light rail OLE systems and safe working practices.

In Pictures: Starling Bank return with a new advert on Metrolink

Starling Bank are one of those businesses who obviously think advertising on Manchester Metrolink works as they have recently returned with a new contract – the third time they have advertised on the trams. On the previous two occasions it was a two-tram contract but this time seems to be just the one (at least so far) with 3101 carrying the advert.

Bury tram top-deck moves to Heaton Park Tramway

The Heaton Park Tramway are now custodians of yet another part of Greater Manchester tramway history with the arrival of the top-deck of Bury Corporation Tramways 7. This is the only surviving part of a Bury tram and has most recently been on display at the Bury Transport Museum.

In Pictures: An update from NELSAM

Earlier this year came the news that the North East Land Sea Air Museum (NELSAM) in Sunderland were the new owners of all the trams on their site following the transfer of ownership from the North Eastern Electrical Transport Trust (NEETT). At the same time it was confirmed that they were intending to only retain two of the five trams on site in the long-term. This pictorial article takes a look at the trams in their current positions as well as an intriguing section of track which has recently been put in place. Trevor Hall provides the images.

Another successful year for the Stourbridge Shuttle

2025/6 has been another successful 12 months for the Stourbridge Shuttle with over 576,000 passengers carried on the short-line between Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town. Using two Parry People Mover vehicles, the line was an early adopted of technology we now call Very Light Rail (VLR), and Pre Metro Operations Ltd (operator of the line) are continuing to progress with plans for its expansion.
