Nottingham Express Transit’s Wilkinson Street Depot was the location for a team family day which saw money raised for local charities as well as allowing connections with local stakeholders to be strengthened.
NET’s charity of the year – Nottinghamshire Mind – were in attendance and they were joined by 2025’s community hero winners, founder and CEO of the charity Switch Up, Dr Marcellus Baz BEM, and Pulp Friction (a Nottingham-based charity that aims to empower people who have learning disabilities and autism to develop their social independence and work-readiness skills).
Pulp Friction’s iconic smoothie bike was on site, making smoothies with each pedal and bringing joy to all attendees during the day. NET have a long-standing partnership with the charity with the Pulp Friction choir performing on a tram in 2015.
There was also a raffle which raised over £250 for Nottinghamshire Mind. This will be used to provide support, information and guidance on mental health to the local community.
Rebecca Horne, Business Engagement Manager at NET, said: “We are always looking for ways to give back to the local community, as well as the people that help the network operate smoothly and safely every day. This is why it was great to be able to invite our employees to a day where they could enjoy time spent with their colleagues, family and friends, whilst also fundraising and supporting important community causes.
“It was also a lovely opportunity to welcome our charity of the year, community partners and regional stakeholders, who remain such an important part of our commitment to the local area.
“We’re committed to doing what we can to supporting mental health at work. It’s a really important part of the culture we’ve worked hard to foster within our workforce. As such, it was brilliant to take that commitment one step further by inviting the likes of Nottinghamshire Mind and the NHS ‘Talking Therapies’ service to our family day to provide additional support and guidance to all out staff.”
