Tomorrow (Thursday 27th August) should see the resumption of South Yorkshire Supertram services across the delta junction following the early conclusion of the major engineering works which started back on Saturday 8th August. In preparation for the return of services test trams were seen using the relaid tracks on the junction.
Supertram have said that services through the junction – which is usually used by all planned services on any given day on the network – should start again from midday on 27th August. This is earlier than planned with the work originally due to carry on until Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August.
Although trams will be able to start running between Cathedral and Sheffield Station/Woodbourn Road again from then it won’t be a full resumption of services as the well discovered at Birley Lane is still causing issues. This is seeing no trams running between Gleadless Townend and Halfway with all Blue route trams diverted to Herdings Park (and no Purple route running as a result).
