“Around the World in Trams” again comes from the United States of America as we keep on looking at the Mattapan Line, a 2.6 mile long line which uses a fleet of 1940s PCC cars.
This week we again features two photos as we see 3265 in action. This PCC was built in 1946 and was owned by the Boston Elevated Railway Company before just one year later ownership was transferred to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. It still remains operational today, although there are rumours that a cascade of vehicles from other lines may see the PCCs become redundant in the future.
In this first image we see the car arriving at Ashmont, one of the termini on the line.
Later on in the same day 3265 is seen again as its at Mattapan.
