Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May 2026 will see the Solent Sky Tram Event taking place in Southampton, and with it comes the very rare opportunity to see Southampton 11 out in the open!
Home to the Southampton Tram Group since 2020, the Solent Sky Museum hold an annual tram event which gives the chance to see the three trams on site (Southampton 38 and Lisbon 715 being the others) as well as a model tram exhibition and various trade stalls.
This year the Southampton Tram Group have been working towards being able to display Southampton 11 out in the open. To this end they fitted the tram with a towbar and more recently were joined by contractors Alan Keef who have laid some special low-level track which will allow the tram to be put on display in the (hoped for!) sunshine!
A test move of the tram took place in the final week of April 2026 allowing the tram to be seen outside for the first time since it was transported across the city some six years ago.
Southampton 11 is the final surviving dome roofed enclosed double decker from the Southampton Corporation Tramways fleet. The restoration of the tram has made excellent progress over the past few years with 2025 having seen the tram lowered on its trucks once again.
- The Solent Sky Tram Event is open on both Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May 2026 between 1000 and 1700 (last admission 1600).
