2025/6 has been another successful 12 months for the Stourbridge Shuttle with over 576,000 passengers carried on the short-line between Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town. Using two Parry People Mover vehicles, the line was an early adopted of technology we now call Very Light Rail (VLR), and Pre Metro Operations Ltd (operator of the line) are continuing to progress with plans for its expansion.
As well as good passenger numbers being recorded, performance has remained consistently high with an average reliability of 99.44%. This also included periods of faultless operation.
There has also been targeted investment in fleet upgrades. This has included CCTV installation, LED lighting, and ongoing vehicle recertification.
Following the appointment of Steve Jasper as Chairman of Pre Metro Operations Ltd, they have also built further momentum behind plans for the Dudley Dasher. This is a proposed low-cost, zero-emission rail link connecting Stourbridge, Brierley Hill, and Dudley. Its hoped these plans will continue to progress in the future.
