In our early season coverage of the East Anglia Transport Museum we saw a lot of Amsterdam 474 and London Transport 1858 in service, but so far in 2026 there have actually been four trams which have carried passengers. In this pictorial article – with photos from Sunday 19th April – we take a look at Blackpool 634 and Sheffield 513 which make up the quartet seen in service so far this year.
Whilst Amsterdam 474 and London Transport 1858 have been long-term residents at Carlton Coville, Blackpool 634 and Sheffield 513 are more recent arrivals. Both trams are on loan with 634 from the Fylde Transport Trust collection and 513 from Beamish. The Blackpool Brush Railcoach has been running at the museum since March 2024 with the Sheffield Roberts Car entering service some 15 years ago on 24th April 2011.
If you want to catch any of these four trams in service, or see the other trams in the collection (several of which can be seen in the main tram depot) why not pay a visit to the East Anglia Transport Museum in Carlton Colville near Lowestoft in Suffolk? It is open 1100-1630 every Thursday and Sunday until the end of April, and then from May until September it adds Tuesdays into the opening weeks, as well as Bank Holiday Mondays and selected Saturdays during special events. All the details about visiting can be found on their website at https://www.eatm.co.uk/dates-times-and-prices/.

Blackpool 634 is owned by the Fylde Transport Trust and is on loan at the museum. The completion of commissioning work was undertaken before it entered service in 2024 with a lot of the work on the tram having been completed when in the ownership of Andy Ashton. This image shows the tram in the very familiar location of Chapel Road terminus.

Sheffield 513 is seen here arriving at Chapel Road. One of only two surviving Roberts Cars (the other of course being 510 at Crich) it is owned by Beamish but has seen more use elsewhere for the past 40 years – including a loan spell at Blackpool – with it calling Carlton Coville home since 2011.

Blackpool Standard 143 is another loanee from the Fylde Transport Trust. Work on completing its snag list and commissioning it for service continues with it located at the rear of the main tram depot. Blackpool Marton VAMBAC 11 is also stabled at this end of the depot with London Transport 1858 just to the left.
