A trip to… Blackpool Tramway

This article takes us to the Fylde Coast for a selection of images taken over a long weekend between Friday 22nd and Sunday 24th November. We feature both the modern trams running the core service as well as a heritage tram on a Coastal Tour. Photos come from Stuart Cooke.

North Station terminus where 018 is standing ahead of departing with a service to Fleetwood Ferry. All trams (except a few early morning and late evening) are now travelling via the extension. The Holiday Inn looms above the tram.

The Starr Gate welcome arch reflects in a puddle as 016 pulls into the stop at the start of its journey to Fleetwood Ferry via North Station.

016 turns across the Promenade road as it heads up Talbot Road with a service to Fleetwood Ferry.

Balloon 723 ran the Coastal Tour on Sunday 24th November. It suffered a few problems on the way but these were soon fixed to allow the tram to make it all the way to Fleetwood as planned. We see it behind 016 here on Bold Street.

Back at North Pier and passengers have disembarked from 723 before it heads back to depot. The Tower is lit up and the bright lights of Christmas By The Sea are on the right. (All Photographs by Stuart Cooke)

I hope that the contractors for the North Station terminus will be re-called to fix the (lack of?) drainage.
