Blackpool Transport make Executive Director appointments

Blackpool Transport Services Limited – operator of tram and bus services on the Fylde Coast – have made two key board appointments with Jamie Swift and Steve Staley promoted from within the business and will now serve as Executive Directors.

Blackpool Transport is wholly owned by Blackpool Council and has a board which oversees the operations of the company. The appointment of both Jamie Swift and Steve Staley to the Board will strengthen operational representation on it.

Jamie Swift has been appointed as Commercial Director having been at Blackpool Transport since January 2025, most recently as Head of Commercial. He has previously held senior positions at Edinburgh Trams and Tramlink Nottingham.

Steve Staley, who has been with Blackpool Transport since June 2025 as Tramway Operations and Safety Manager, will now be Tramway Director. Steve has previously been at Manchester Metrolink, Dubai Metro and Riyadh Metro.

Lea Harrison, Blackpool Transport Managing Director, said: “Both Jamie and Steve have already helped to transform operational and commercial performance across our organisation.

“Bringing with them fresh ideas and a wealth of industry experience, their elevation to the board of directors will help them to continue this work at a more strategic level as we plan for further enhancements to transport services that tens of thousands of people rely on every day.”
