Staff at South Yorkshire Supertram have raised £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of a much-loved colleague. Matt Orange passed away from cancer earlier this year and now thanks to the generosity and dedication the cancer charity will benefit as they aim to ensure than no-one faces cancer alone.
Matthew Orange was a cherished member of the Supertram team, known for his gentle nature, dedication and dry sense of humour. To honour his memory and contribute to a befitting cause, Supertram organised a special fundraising event where colleagues wore orange to work in a show of solidarity and respect for Matthew.
Sharon Galloway, Manager of Operations at Supertram, said: “Matt was a kind, thoughtful, and highly valued member of our driving team. He had been with the company since 1996. His unique presence will be sadly missed by all. We are incredibly proud of our team and grateful to everyone who contributed. The funds raised will support Macmillan in their vital work, helping those affected by cancer.”
The donation has been made to Macmillan Cancer Support who provide information and support to people living with cancer and their families, including financial, practical and emotional support. Their aim is that no-one should face cancer alone.
