Bargain hunting at Crich

Crich Tramway Village played host to the popular BBC1 daytime television programme ‘Bargain Hunt’ on Wednesday 20th August, when the show’s charismatic presenter Tim Wonnacott visited the museum to film a segment to feature in a future episode. The programme is expected to be shown at the end of October or early in November.

Although ‘Bargain Hunt’ primarily focusses on two teams who attempt to find bargain antiques to sell at auction in the hope of making a profit, the programme also sees Wonnacott visit various sites of historic merit and presumably this is where Crich will fit in. Great efforts were made to put on a good show for the film crew in attendance with several trams specially moved out onto the depot track fan to star in the programme, with presenter Tim speaking to the camera in front of the magnificent London 159 to show off the museum’s latest, and arguably most impressive, restoration. This should generate further useful publicity and is another welcome piece of news in the museum’s milestone 50th year of electric tramcar operation, which will hopefully introduce the attraction to a whole new audience.

  1. Dan says:

Great although a shame that is on the tele at the end of the season rather than when it is open. Still good publicity though.
