In Pictures: The Great Fleetwood Tram Move

As reported over the past couple of days a large proportion of the trams of the Fleetwood Heritage Leisure Trust have been moved the short distance to new outside storage ahead of a final move to the new Fleetwood Tram Museum in the future. Railcoach 678, Balloon 726, Twin Trailer Car 683 and Balloon 710 all made the quarter of a mile trip to the new secured property provided by Associated British Ports over two days and we are pleased to now be able to bring you some photos of the trams during the move.

As also reported earlier today only one tram now remains in the logistics yard of Halsall Toys International (where the trams had been located since 2011) and that is Jubilee 761. This tram will also make the move later this summer when it will also be joined by those trams currently situated at Kirkham Prison (Brush 621, Centenary 641 and Twin Motor Car 673) so that with the exception of Brush 290 which is stabled by Pleasure Beach loop where it will remain for the 2013 Illuminations season all the trams of the Fleetwood Heritage Leisure Trust will be in one place.

The Trust are inviting any willing enthusiasts to join them at Wyre Dock next week to assist with covering over the four trams now situated there. Anyone who wishes to assist is advised to wear work clothes and scuffed footwear and can contact Colin MacLeod from the Trust on 07741 141338 to confirm dates. Those who do help will also be able to take close-up photos of the trams plus permission can be given to take images of 761.

The Fleetwood Heritage Leisure Trust will have a Stand at the Lighthouse during the Fleetwood Transport Festival on Sunday 21 July which will see the launch of two new titles from Rigby Road Publications: Tribute to Marton Trams 1901-1962 and H V Burlingham, Bus and Coach Designs of the 1930s.

Railcoach 678 waits for movement.

Twin Trailer Car 683 - retaining the covers fitted to protect it from the elements - sits on the back of the familiar sight of a Scotts low loader.

At Halsall Toys International yard Jubilee 761 and Balloon 710 patiently wait their turn for movement. 710 was moved later the same day although 761 remains in place for now.
