NET to complete maintenance on Station Street lifts

Nottingham Express Transit have announced that major maintenance work will be taking place on the Station Street lifts between Monday 22nd June and Sunday 14th August. The lifts have been in service since the network opened in 2004 and their reliability has been patchy at best in recent years, with this work long anticipated by users who have relied on them.

Andy Downie, Head of Operations and Safety at NET, said: “The upcoming maintenance work to our Station Street lifts have been on our radar for quite some time. Our lifts have been in operation for more than 20 years, and with that comes natural wear and tear. We’re always committed to ensuring we provide all our customers with a great service and exceptional levels of care and consideration. That extends not just to their experience onboard our trams, but also to the maintenance of our tram stops and lifts too.

“Our Station Street lifts have not been reflective of the standard we pride ourselves on, but we’re pleased to now be able to rectify that. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the upcoming works, and we thank all our customers for their patience.”

During the work alternative lifts will be available in Nottingham Railway Station and the Nottingham Station car park, which will allow users to still access the tramstop.

The work will include the replacement of a range of the original components of the lifts.
