Light rail safety professionals in the UK will soon have access to more technical guidance notes thanks to a new partnership between LRSSB and the Australian arm of global infrastructure design consultancy ARUP.
This new collaboration will see 12 documents covering a broad spectrum of critical operational and safety-related topics being produced and shared with LRSSB members in the UK.
The areas to be covered include operational modelling, incident management, and system performance.
Craig O’Brien, Head of Engineering Safety and Innovation at LRSSB, said: “This latest collaboration reflects our strategic objective to build a comprehensive and authoritative library of standards and guidance for UK light rail systems.
“To achieve this, we are drawing on international best practice and technical expertise, as well as the experience and knowledge of light rail safety professionals in the UK.
“By working with Arup’s specialist team in Australia, we’re now able to leverage global experience and lessons learned from comparable networks operating in different regulatory and operational environments.
“This latest partnership demonstrates the LRSSB’s role as a globally connected organisation that can draw on international expertise to support safer, more reliable and more resilient networks for passengers, operators and authorities alike.”
The guidance notes will be thoroughly reviewed by the LRSSB before they are released on the LRSSB Safety Hub.
