In Pictures: 006 become next Flexity2 to re-enter service in Blackpool

There are now just three Blackpool Flexity2 trams which are out of service following the return to action of 006 on Friday 1st May 2026.

This was one of the trams which had been withdrawn for more extensive bogie work to take place as part of the planned overhaul work and had last run during February 2026.

006 follows quickly on the heels of 004 in returning to service and now means that 001004, 006009, 011, 013016 and 018 are all available to operate the standard timetabled service which remains at a 15 minute frequency with alternate departures going via North Station.

It just leaves the longer-term out of service trams unavailable: 005, 010, 012 and 017. Of these 012 and 017 last saw use in December 2025 with 005 having last run back in July 2022 and 010 in August 2025.

006 calls at Heathfield Road bound for Fleetwood Ferry on its first day back in service. It also has the “UK Tram Operator of the Year” logos on the ends. (Photograph by Oliver Shenton, 1st May 2026)
