The next set of engineering works on the Manchester Metrolink network will be taking place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April 2026, impacting services on the Ashton-under-Lyne line.
On both days of the weekend there will be no trams running between Etihad Campus and Ashton-under-Lyne with services from both Altrincham and Eccles terminating at Etihad Campus throughout the weekend.
A replacement bus service will run from Piccadilly Gardens to Ashton-under-Lyne but it won’t be able to serve all tramstops:
- Etihad Campus will not be served. Passengers are advised to get off at Holt Town and take the tram or Velopark and finish their journey by foot.
- Droylsden will see a different stop in use towards Ashton (Droylsden Canal Street Bus Stop D)
- Audenshaw will not be served by any outbound journeys
In addition Ashton Interchange will be partially closed on the Sunday because of the ongoing track replacement works.
Danny Vaughan, Chief Network Officer at TfGM, said: “These essential track repairs are part of our continued investment in our tram network, the largest light rail system in the country.
“The safety and reliability of our network is our top priority, and this work will help to ensure a more dependable service for many years into the future. We know any disruption to tram services can be inconvenient for passengers, and we’d like to thank people for their patience while this important work is carried out.”
More engineering works will be taking place across the network during the spring, summer and early autumn. This will include a week long closure in May through Piccadilly Gardens, nine days in June at Shudehill and Market Street and three weeks of work at Trafford Bar and Deansgate-Castlefield from mid-July.
