There is no doubt that there is a lot of discussion continuing to take place around the UK and Ireland over the future of light rail, with the latest happening in Dublin where professionals from the sector got together to discuss the progress and future direction.
Held on 8th April 2026, the BITA Rail Division Networking Evening focused on light rail and gave a platform for sharing insights on developments and opportunities across the sector.
Tim Bilby, UKTram Stakeholder and Innovation Manager, attended the event where he provided an overview of UKTram’s role, highlighting recent and proposed developments across the UK, alongside examples of innovation and areas for future exploration.
After the event, Tim Bilby said: “It was great to see such strong interest in light rail, with the event selling out in advance. There is a clear appetite for sharing experience across the UK and Ireland and for understanding how the sector continues to evolve in response to demands.”
