We go to Cornbrook in this latest edition of “Old(er) and New”.

On 23rd March 2013 T68A 2001 is just departing from Conbrook as it works a service to Piccadilly which will have started back at Eccles. 2001 is one of the six T68A trams which were built for the opening of the Eccles line with this tram entering service on 6th December 199. It would have just over a year left in service with it not being withdrawn until 30th April 2014 when it was one of the last two T68As in service (along with 2003). 2001 would be the last surviving T68A as it would remain stored at Trafford Depot until February 2020 when it was finally broken up on site.

We bring things more up-to-date for the second image as M5000 3083 also departs from the citybound platform at Cornbrook, although it will only be going as far as Deansgate-Castlefield. As is often the case with photos around Manchester there has been more development in the background between 2013 and 15th March 2025 and whilst the temporary buildings on the closed off section of platform have had a change of paintjob over the years.
