Derailment in Sheffield causes delays

South Yorkshire Supertram services were disrupted during the evening of Thursday 19th June 2025 after 105 derailed at the Park Square delta junction. Whilst the tram was rerailed, and investigation started into the cause, revised services were introduced with no service possible across the junction into the city centre.

105 – a tram which is no stranger to incidents having spent time out of service after being hit by a lorry and derailed at Hyde Park – was working a service from Malin Bridge to Halfway when it derailed at the junction at around 1630.

South Yorkshire Supertram have started an investigation into the cause.

Whilst the tram was rerailed (services resumed around 2030) the following services ran:

  • Middlewood to Cathedral
  • Malin Bridge to Cathedral
  • Halfway to Sheffield Station
  • Meadowhall to Sheffield Station
  • Rotherham Parkgate to Sheffield Station
  • No trams ran to Herdings Park
