There are now only three advertising liveries on the West Midlands Metro after the vinyls on 53 were removed. This tram had been advertising KFC since March 2025 but with the contract now having come to an end 53 is once again operating in standard fleet livery.
The dark KFC adverts were the first time that 53 had run out of fleet livery. It was the second time that KFC took out an advertising contract on the trams though with 58 having a wrap for the fast food chain between July and August 2024. These latest vinyls were removed during 9th May 2025.
With the adverts now removed it leaves just the three trams out of fleet livery. They are 45 with its long-standing City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra adverts (since April 2023), 57 in an ad for National Trust Blossom Watch (from March 2025) and 58 which has been advertising Birmingham City University from September 2024.
The last day in service for 53 with its KFC adverts was 8th May 2025 and it was seen here departing from Edgbaston Village just as 57 arrives (National Trust adverts). The next time these trams meet 53 will be looking much more blue. (Photograph by Andy Walters, 8th May 2025)
