Happy New Year! This time “Out and About” goes to the Tram-Train route on the South Yorkshire Supertram network.
We’re at Rotherham Central for this photo which is currently the only intermediate stop on the Tram-Train extension, although that may change in the future with plans for an extra stop to be built at Magna. We see 399 202 calling at the stop with a service heading to Rotherham Parkgate. The Tram-Train platforms are at a lower level than the railway station platforms to allow Citylink vehicles to call there whilst maintaining level boarding. White Lane is the first stop solely on the Blue route as it heads out to Halfway with the Purple route to Herdings Park branching off after the previous stop at Gleadless Town End. In this first photo at White Lane we see 116 – advert for Park and Ride sites across the region – just pulling into the stop on the way to Halfway on a sunny November day.
We then see 106 approaching the stop when heading in the opposite direction towards Malin Bridge which will run via the city centre. (Photographs x2 by Stuart Cooke, 11th November 2024)
