In Pictures: Flooding causes Supertram disruption

Heavy overnight rain in Sheffield led to delays for trams on Thursday 5th December 2024. The tracks were flooded on Middlewood Road close to Leppings Lane tramstop which meant that early morning trams were unable to travel to Middlewood.

Whilst there was a wait for the floodwaters to subside trams were not able to operate from Hillsborough to Middlewood. Yellow route trams were instead diverted to Malin Bridge giving that short branch a frequent service once again.

The floods had reduced enough by around 0830 to allow trams to run through once again.

113 can go no further as the way ahead is flooded. Cars struggle through the water in the distance.

Another shot of 113 as it continues to wait at Leppings Lane. (Both Photographs by Stuart Cooke, 5th December 2024)
