As part of their induction six newly appointed inspectors at the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) have heard about how the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board (LRSSB) are delivering safety improvements for the UK light rail sector.
They were invited to the Birmingham headquarters of the LRSSB where they learnt about the crucial role the organisation plays in reducing risks for tramway employees, customers and other road users.
Mark Ashmore, LRSSB Head of Safety and Assurance, said: “During the briefing we were also able to highlight the importance of our Safety Risk Management Framework, which embraces a host of interconnected platforms. These include our Tram Accident and Incident Reporting (TAIR) system, Safety risk modelling, Bowtie risk assessments and Rm3 assessment tool.
“The presentation was very well received by the inspectors, and the training session reflects the further strengthening of links between the LRSSB, regulators and our other key stakeholders.”
