A Freedom of Information (FOI) request by local media on the Isle of Man has revealed that there were two runaway incidents on the Manx Electric Railway in the 18 months from 1st January 2025. Both incidents involved freight wagons with no injuries reported.
The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) have been unable to release full details of the incidents as they are currently subject to investigations by the Health and Safety at Work Inspectorate.
The limited information given confirms that it was small freight wagons involved in the incidents, one of which was being operated by a third party.
