This “Out and About” goes to the West Midlands Metro again to take a look at a couple of the initial batch of Urbos trams in service.

Following the Easter 2024 trackwork which saw a limited service run on the northern section of the West Midlands Metro network only until early May the use of Urbos3 trams was relatively limited. In fact its not thought that until 3rd May that any were used in passenger service. But that change on that day with a couple of the trams allocated to service – which included 35 as seen here.
The urbos 3’s were “banned” because trams were in offwire mode from black lake to hawthorns and the balogh tags werent being read by the urbos 3s properly which could have resulted in a pan up move with no wires above. So in order to prevent any issues, urbos 100s were used exclusively until guns village bridge was repaired and rewired
