No services will run on London Tramlink between Mitcham and Wimbledon from 11th to 20th February to allow for track replacement work to take place. A replacement bus service will be in operation throughout serving Wimbledon, Morden Road and Mitcham stops only.
The work will involve replacing 750 metres of track between Morden Road and Merton Park and in the Dundonald Road crossing area. The latter area will also see the signals replaced and the road will be closed at this time with diversions in place.
Rory O’Neill, TfL’s Director of Trams, said: “Replacing the track and signals will reduce the need for further maintenance at these locations for many years to come and minimise future disruption for customers and local residents. In order to carry out our work safely and to keep the overall period of disruption to an absolute minimum, we need to close the Tram service between Wimbledon and Mitcham for the duration of the works. A bus replacement service will be in operation.”
