New fares for Blackpool

Sunday 9th August will see the introduction of a new simplified fare structure by Blackpool Transport which for the tramway will see a flat single fare of £2.10 – regardless of length of journey. So, whether you travel from North Pier to Tower or from Starr Gate to Fleetwood your single fare will be £2.10 making one of those journeys excellent value and the other not so much! These fares only apply to the core Flexity service.

On the whole these new single fares actually offer a saving to passengers as there used to be three separate fares – £1.90, £2.40 and £2.90. It is just those shorter-hop journeys where there will be an increase in the fare. During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic fares across Blackpool Transport had been reduced to a flat £1.50 single fare but this will now be amended to the new £2.10 fare.

In addition to this new flat single fare, Blackpool Transport’s popular Saver tickets will still also be available. This will include £5.50 for an adult 24 hour ticket (£5.20 is purchased through the app), £12.50 for an adult 3 day ticket (£11.50 through the app/website) and £15.50 for an adult 7 day ticket (£14.50 through the app/website).

Both the single tickets and Saver tickets can be purchased on board the tram using cash but Blackpool Transport have asked that the correct change is used if possible. The Blackpool Tramway remains the only UK tramway not to allow card payments either at ticket machines or on board the trams at this stage.

Bus fares will also change from the same day with single tickets costing either £1.90 or £2.40, depending on which zones you travel through.

* Full details of the new fare structure is available on the Blackpool Transport website.
