NTA Statement of Strategy gives Irish transport priorities until 2030

The National Transport Authority (NTA) have published their Statement of Strategy 2026-2030 which is setting out their ambitions for the next five years and reaffirms their commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable transport for communities across Ireland.

The strategy covers the entire transport infrastructure of the country, and that does include some significant plans for Dublin’s Luas network.

Amongst the plans are:

  • Replace the existing tram fleet on the Red line
  • Increase capacity on the Green line
  • Commence construction of Luas Finglas
  • Seeking consent for additional Luas lines in Dublin
  • Luas Cork to be progressed

Anne Shaw, CEO of the National Transport Authority, said: “As CEO I am very honoured to be leading the organisation to deliver the mission and vision of the NTA, working with all partners and colleagues involved in delivering infrastructure and services that connects people to opportunity and enables businesses to thrive and invest.

“The NTA has grown very significantly over the last few years and it’s important that we retain our values and culture of inclusivity and diversity, as we develop the organisation further to meet our growing mandate and deliver connectivity for the people and places of Ireland.”

The next five years will also see a focus on improving customer experience, advancing climate and environmental commitments, expanding capacity, strengthening regulation and safety and ensuring continued delivery of strategic transport infrastructure.
