In Pictures: Cabin continues to be northern terminus as Blackpool Tramway works extended

The essential trackworks which have been underway on the Blackpool Tramway since Sunday 14th February will be carrying on for longer than planned due to a “delay in the works”. Normal services will now not resume until Sunday 7th March – one week later than originally planned. As a result the revised service between Harrow Place and Cabin only will continue to run for an additional seven days (it was originally only due to run until Saturday 27th February).

Go-ahead given for new transport interchange in Dudley

A new bus and tram interchange is to be built in Dudley on the site of the current bus station following approval by West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) leaders. The interchange is due to open in 2023 – the same year that trams are due to start running through Dudley as part of the West Midlands Metro extension to Brierley Hill.

West Midlands Metro bring forward work to get ready for when restrictions are lifted

In Pictures: Trams return to service in Blackpool

After eight days with no trams as a result of the essential trackworks taking place, a service resumed on the Blackpool Tramway on Monday 22nd February. Currently planned to be running until the end of Saturday 27th February, trams are running between Harrow Place and Cabin only with the no. 1 bus service continuing to run to an enhanced timetable to allow passengers to complete their journeys. Trams are operating every 20 minutes for most of the day (every half hour in the early mornings and evenings).

In Pictures: Update from Leith Walk

The major construction project to extend Edinburgh Trams from the current city centre terminus at York Place along Leith Walk and then on to Newhaven has been continuing in recent weeks. As with most projects of this type much work goes on where to the layman it would appear holes are just being dug with very little outcome but in some of the worksites now it is the opposite with track continuing to be laid. This latest update shows the scene on Leith Walk during February 2021.
